Today we are going to discuss about protozoans/ protozoa…
1. Define protozoa
Protozoa are heterotrophic micro-organisms.
2. Protozoans / protozoa belongs to kingdom _ _ _ _
Protozoans or protozoa belongs to Kingdom Protista.
Protozoans / protozoa are the member of the kingdom Protista .
3. Protozoans / protozoa lives as _ _
Protozoans / protozoa lives as Predators orparasites mainly.
4. Protozoans / protozoa have primitive relations with _ _ _ _
Protozoans / protozoa have primitive relations with animals.
5. Examples of protozoans / protozoa
Amoeba, Entamoeba, trypanosoma, paramoecium, plasmodium etc.
These are few examples of protozoans / protozoa.
Group of Protozoans
Protozoans are mainly divided into four major groups.
1. Amoeboid
They mainly found in freshwater, sea water and in moist soil.
Take catch their food / prey using pseudopodia
E.g. – Amoeba, Entamoeba etc.
2. Flagellated
These protozoans are called flagellated protozoans because they have one or more flagella.
Flagella helps them to move.
E g. – Trypanosoma etc.
3. Ciliated
They are aquatic.
They have cilia To Move food into gullet and for locomotion.
E.g. – Paramoecium etc.
4. Sporozoans
Protozoans / protozoa which have infective spore like stage in life cycle are called sporozoans.
E.g. – Plasmodium etc.
